Enjoy an afternoon on the water with our sea life!
Small boat excursion with kayaking makes this a stand-out! Duration 6 Hours Times 9AM Most Days Whats Included 6 hours total on the water (mix of boat / kayak) Lunch & beverages available on the boat Naturalist or guide onboard Kayak gear Transportation to/from your hotel if needed - $10 extra per party Minimum Booking 4 required for tour to operate; we will work with vendor to honor all reservations or offer dates when it will be available. Maximum Capacity/Booking 6 guests total ADA Access This excursion is not able to accommodate guests with service animals or mobility assistive devices/wheelchairs (due to kayaks, dock). Our “Marine Safaris” shove off from our own slips in Auke Bay, providing you with excellent views of both marine wildlife, majestic bald eagles and other fantastic feathered beauties. You’ll also be mesmerized by the almost prehistoric landscape, and the trees, plants and flowers that decorate it. With any luck, you may even catch sight of what inhabits the land; bears, wolves, Sitka blacktail deer, mountain goats and maybe even a moose. Our unobtrusive vessels enable us to be close to the coastline allowing you to hear the sounds of the birds, waterfalls, whales, eagles, sea lions, and more. The size of our vessels also means every seat has a great view! We’ll head north to the Channel Islands, Mother Nature steals the show; that’s where the whales hang out. It’s a popular spot for them since what they eat also hang out there. You’ll see humpback whales (maybe some Killer whales) and unmatched beauty all around you. The notably huge Steller sea lions, harbor seals, Bald Eagles, Dall’s porpoise, and other wildlife are known to make appearances as well. Our knowledgeable staff will tell you about some of Juneau’s history and show you related points of interest during your tour. While our small vessels get you close to the water and the wildlife surrounding you; kayaks get you even closer! You’ll be joined on your tour by an experienced guide who will assist you as necessary during your outing. But primarily, your guide’s purpose is to take you on a journey to see the beauty of Juneau’s animals, birds, flowers, trees, mountains, and glaciers from a unique vantage point. We chose our kayaks to make your trip comfortable (we even added seats) and allow the least experienced kayaker (ex. never kayaked before) to feel like they’ve been doing it forever because of their stability. Our “fleet” of kayaks are Sea Eagle 380x Explorer inflatables, each with two 11.5″ fully inflated chambers and a high-pressure, drop stitch floor, making them almost impossible to flip over. Just because they’re inflatable, they’re NOT toys! The Sea Eagle 380x has a Class IV whitewater rating and can handle open-water and down-wind sailing! It’s big enough for two, small enough for one, and is capable of holding 750 lbs. This excursion operates in all weather, please bring additional layers and rain gear.
