Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a spotting. Moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and bears are all possible to see but each trip is different. Much of it depends on how good you are at spotting animals from above.
Yes. While not expected, it’s certainly appreciated.
We don’t have a specific weight limit; we operate based upon the overall weight of the aircraft. Before you fly, we will ask for your current weight. Please answer honestly as our team must do the correct calculations to ensure the flight is safe. We promise that our team will protect your information. If you don’t feel comfortable at any time, pull us aside and we’ll ensure your privacy.
The following items are prohibited on the aircraft/tour: - Bags or cases of any kind - iPads or tablets, tripods - Selfie sticks or other extendible items - Drones - Water bottles or liquids. - You will be provided a secure area at our base where you may leave such items. - No smoking of any kind is allowed for the duration of the tour.
It is very hard to predict the weather on a glacier. Expect at least 10 degrees cooler on the glacier than in town, with heavy winds. Dress in warm layers – hats, gloves and sunglasses are highly recommended. And don’t forget a raincoat! Guests will be provided with over-boots for walking on the glacier, other clothing is not provided.
Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as guest safety and comfort, passengers weighing 250 pounds (113kg or 18 Stone) or more will be charged an additional $100.00 to reserve adequate space onboard the helicopter. Total weight includes shoes and clothing. Surcharge must be paid at time of booking.
This excursion is listed as “MODERATE” activity level for the following reasons: - The distance walking from the heli base to the aircraft and the distance from the helicopters to the camp on the glacier. This is approximately 100 feet (30 meters). - The sizeable steps that guests must navigate while getting in and out of the aircraft. These steps are approximately 18” in height. - The natural surface of the glacier can be uneven and cracked. - Due to liability reasons, employees cannot lift guests in or out of the helicopter. The helicopter staff will be there to lend a helping hand, though ultimately guests are responsible for navigating these steps on their own.
Seating is arranged based on the weight, balance, and safety of the whole departure, and there is no guarantee that you will be able to keep you group together on the aircraft. Please note that everything possible will be done to keep groups together for the flight portion of the tour, but sometimes it is required to split a group between multiple helicopters. All groups will be together for the glacier portion of the tour.
